Livestock Event 2016: Davally Igolo secures Charolais championship

The National Charolais Show, staged at the Livestock Event 2016, saw Davally Igolo ET claim the overall championship for Derbyshire breeding partnership Dave Thornley and Alistair Smith.

The September 2013-born bull, a son of Balthayock Longbow, was described by judge Alan Lawson, Newcastle Tyne and Wear, as a “good all-round animal”.

“He is a modern type of bull that would be well-suited to the requirements of the marketplace,” he said.

The home-bred bull, out of Wesley Tasteful, was breed champion at Lincoln Show and will make his next appearance at the Great Yorkshire Show.

Standing reserve overall champion was the April 2015-born female Mortimers Ladyluck, from Messrs Mortimers Farm, Eastleigh, Hampshire. Sired by Mortimers Hurricane, this one is out of Mortimers Genie.
