Tamhorn Blues peak at 14,000gns

Bidding reached a top price of 14,000gns at the dispersal of Staffordshire breeders Danny and Jane Wyllie’s Tamhorn herd of British Blues when the August 2009-bred heifer Tamhorn Earlene sold to Co Tyrone buyer Richard Mobray. She is by Tamhorn Sumo and out of Gregmaur Brandy.

Earlene 492.jpg The crowd at Newark Livestock Market competed strongly for the 22-month-old blue roan bull Tamhorn Formidable, the well known show winning son of Springbank Blackstar. He settled at 13,000gns and goes to R A and M D Butler, Thatcham.

Formidable A 1759.jpg The Ballygrange Alex sired Tamhorn Flowergirl made 7200gns to John Allan, Co Armagh. She is out of a Sumo dam and her full brother was champion at the breed society’s sale in October.

Flowergirl 599.jpg Tamhorn Edaline, from the herd’s most successful family tracing back to the foundation cow Glebedale Jane, made 7000gns. She is also by Ballygrange Alex and goes to Nottinghamshire buyer Miss Victoria Bowring.

Another 7000gns bid secured the March-born heifer calf Tamhorn Hyacinth. By Sumo and out of Gregmaur Brandy, she also heads back to Northern Ireland with John Allan.
