Tequila takes a shot at glory at Beef Expo 2012

Taking the overall supreme champion silverware at Beef Expo today was a Limousin heifer from regular showgoer Tecwyn Jones, Ty Newydd, Conwy.

 
2452012 Overall & Baby Beef Champ.JPGOctober 2011 born Tequila secures the fourth championship win in the last six years for the Jones’ who had great success of the show circuit last year with Jager Bomb.  
Today’s overall win follows on from taking the baby beef champion silverware.  Weighing in at 299kg, Tequila is sired by a Netherall son of Masduclo.  The Jones plan to take her to the Royal Welsh Show in July.
In reserve was the continental champion –  May 2011 born Limousin steer Suarez from Julie Sedgewick and Neil Slack, Co Durham.
 
 
2452012 Reserve Champ.JPGThis is Suarez’s second show outing, having won the championship at the Otley Show at the weekend.  Weighing in at 514kg, Suarez is sired by Rossignol and out of a Limousin x cow which won the baby beef championship at the first ever Beef Expo, Messrs Sedgewick and Slack plan to take him on to the Northumberland, Cumberland and Yorkshire Shows.
Judge Pearse McNamee who breeds show calves in Co Donegal said:  “The winner was a super animal with great shape and style – she was as good as it gets. She will be quite a threat to the winter show season.”
BABY BEEF CHAMPIONSHIP
In the baby beef championships, today’s overall winner – Limousin heifer Tequila from Tecwyn Jones, took home the silverware.
In reserve in the baby beef classes Limousin steer Rob Roy from T.A. & C.L. Lyon & Son, Lintre House, Lincolnshire.  On his first outing, this one was bred by Rob Jones, Erwood, Howers. Weighing in at 345kg,  he is by Bailee Umber and out of a British Blue X cow. He is set to go to the Royal Welsh and East of England shows.
