Texels to 15,000gns at Worcester

 

A Texel ram lamb made 15,000gns to top the trade at a two-flock fixture held on Sunday at Worcester. The sale comprised Texels from Vaughan Farms’ Kingsland flock (Herefordshire) and C S Ponting and Co’s Penstones flock (Oxon).

 

The top priced lamb came from Vaughan Farms’ Kingsland flock at Leominster Herefordshire and is by Penparc Spitfire and out of a Knock Powerpacker ewe. Buyer was Malcolm Reid, Alloa.

 

Mr Reid also made two other high priced purchases on the day – both from Kingsland. He paid 6000gns for a senior ewe by Knock Powerpacker and out of a ewe by Muiresk Blondin. He also gave 5000gns for a ewe lamb by Penparc Spitfire and out of a Powerpacker dam.

 

Acorn Farm, Suffolk paid 3600gns for a shearling gimmer – the highest priced lot from the Penstones flock. The gimmer is by Millend Piece of Gold.

 

Averages: Kingsland – 31 senior ewes ÂŁ991; 50 yearlings ÂŁ694; 67 ewe lambs ÂŁ455; 16 ram lambs ÂŁ1588 and two rams ÂŁ1023. Penstones – 33 ewes ÂŁ487; 29 shearling ewes ÂŁ718 and two rams ÂŁ2100.
