TV company founder wins Bob Davies memorial award

An award named in memory of Farmers Weekly’s respected Wales correspondent has been won by the founder of a television company specialising in agricultural issues.

The Bob Davies Memorial Award, given by the Farmers’ Union of Wales, was presented at the Royal Welsh Show for the second time since Bob Davies’ death in 2009.

The recipient of the specially carved shepherd’s crook, Elin Rhys, is the founder of Telesgop, the company the produces the Welsh language farming programme, “Ffermio”. She was given the award for raising the public profile of Welsh farming.

Telesgop has retained the contract for BBC Wales’ show coverage, including the Royal Welsh Show itself. The company’s relationship with the show extends over 15 years.

Robert Davies wrote for Farmers Weekly, mostly as Wales correspondent, for 44 years.
