Small restrictions in drinking water can have a severe affect on cow’s milk yield and quality and may breach milk buyers’ assurance schemes, warns independent advisory group Kingshay.

With unpredictable weather the risk of heat stress increases seeing a cow divert water consumed to produce milk to keeping cool, explains the organisation’s dairy specialist Robert Mintern.

Details of how to maintain adequate supplies are given in Kinghays’ latest Technical Note available on the Kingshay website.
