Limousin bulls sold to a high of 5,500gns at the North West Midlands and North Wales Club’s spring show and sale at Welshpool last week (15 May).

 

Sale topper was the October 2012-born bull Alwen Heddwyn from TLL and CP Wynne, Corwen, Denbighshire. Sired by the Ampertaine Abracadabra son Alwen Edward he is out of a Wilodge Tonka daughter. Buyer was JG and MW Clayton, Newtown, Powys.

 

Second best price of the day went to Underwood Harvey from I and W Jones, Builth Wells, Powys. Sired by the Nenuphar son Nebo Amazon he is out of the Fieldson Alfy daughter Underwood Daisy and was purchased by FW Jones and Sons, Craven Arms, Shropshire.

 

Two bulls made 5,000gns. First of these was a bull from the same home as the last lot and by the same sire. Born in April 2012 Underwood Henry is out of the Objat daughter Underwood Cindy. Buyer was DR Owen and Sons, Tywyn, Gwynedd.

 

At the same money was Twemlows Harrier, from WL and JA Forrester, Whitchurch, Shropshire. Sired by the Objat son Cloughhead Ernie he is out of a homebred dam and boasts a beef value of LM+45. He headed home to Clwyd with RE Roberts and Co.

 

A bid of 4,800gns from the Thomas Bros, Oswestry, Shropshire, secured them Alwen Hywel from the Wynne family. Hywel is sired by the Ampertaine Abracadabra son Alwen Edward and is out of the Sympa daughter Alwen Dori.

 

Female trade topped at 4,300gns for Wilodge Empress from C Williams, Shifnal, Shropshire. Sired by Oxygene she is out of the Nouvelle Prospect sired dam Wilodge Bootylicious. She sold in calf to Gerrygullinane Glen with her heifer calf Wildoge Impress, sired by Bonux, at foot to T Jenkins and Sons, Llantristant, Mid Glamorgan.

 

Averages: 16 bulls, £3,760.31; nine cows served/suckling, £2,741.67; and eight served and maiden heifers, £2,008.13.
