Top call at Saturday’s sale of Longhorns at Worcester was a 1850gns bid for Bernard Llewellyn’s first prize bull Carreg Herby a Bulford Freddy son he was secured by G Townend, Tewkesbury, Glos.  Other bulls in demand included John & Joshua Brigg’s Gorse Quantum a third prize winner on the day reaching 1700gns to R Jones, Penrhos, Raglan, Monmouth.

Females were a selective trade, but there was no shortage of competitive bidding for quality animals. This fact was underlined when Charnwood Jewel a maiden heifer from John Warner’s Leicestershire based reached 1,500gns to M Lawrence, Basingstoke, Hampshire.  

Averages: Four bulls £1561.87, 10 cows with calves or in calf £1006.50, four senior maiden heifers (led section) £1241.62, 15 senior maiden heifers (unled section) £703.50, four    junior maiden heifers (led section) £753.37, eight junior maiden heifers (unled section) £510.56 (McCartneys).
