A top price and new centre record of 4,000gns was achieved at Lazonby Mart’s annual sale of working and unbroken sheep dogs and puppies.

An entry of 61 dogs were put forward and auctioneers Harrison and Hetherington said:  “Dogs showing plenty ability in the field were well saught after, however some dogs found the high spirited Swaledale hoggs difficult to handle, with unbroken dogs meeting a selective demand.”

Topping the sale and taking a new centre record at 4,000gns was “Barfield Roy” (pictured above) from Messrs R Hutchinson of Valley Farm, Stainmore Road, Bowes.  The winning bid came from Messrs Stobbart of Croglin High Hall.

Working dogs levelled up at £1,690.50 (+£386.75) and unbroken dogs averaged £193.20 (+£73.03).
