Case IH is to launch a new series of 135-180hp tractors in the UK next year to replace its MXM175 and 190 models.

The new Puma series will comprise four models: The 165 with a pto power rating of 135hp, the 180 offering 150hp, the 195 with 165hp and the 210 with 180hp.

The series is powered by a six-cylinder, 6.75litre, Tier 3, turbo charged/intercooled engine developed jointly by Case New Holland, Iveco and Cummins. The engine features a 24-valve, common rail, electronic fuel injection system.

All models will be fitted as standard with an 18×6 full powershift transmission, which includes a patented torque-sensing system on the tractor fly wheel to measure engine speed and transmission torque loading.

An optional creeper speed transmission offers an additional 10 forward and six reverse speeds.

In the field, the transmission changes ratio respective of engine rpm, transmission loading and forward speed to ensure maximum engine efficiency and reduced fuel consumption is maintained, claims the company.

A Puma 210 model intended for the North American market was exhibited at last week’s Harvest Husker Days farm show at Grand Island, Nebraska, USA.

Puma models for the European market, incorporating more sophisticated control systems, will be launched in the UK next year, confirmed Paul Freeman, Case IH product specialist.

No information is available on UK price but a 210 model on display at the Husker Harvest Days event with weights, dual wheels and extras was priced at $128,000 [£66,560].
