Bedford-based importer ICB Plant and Machinery has taken on the distribution job for a 14hp-25hp range of Japanese-built brushcutters.

The most popular Canycom Samurai CMX227 model comes with a Subaru V-twin engine that boots out up to 22hp and drives through a hydrostatic transmission with selectable four-wheel drive.

Power from the motor to the cutting blades is delivered via a shaft – rather than a belt – to a geared mower drive, which the company claims can deliver 30% more power and makes it capable of chomping through material up to 36mm in diameter.

The machine can also work across 30deg slopes, up 25deg inclines and is fitted with hydraulically activated front and rear drum brakes.

Prices range from £7,000 for a 14hp, two-wheel drive model up to £12,500 for a top-of-the-ranger with 25hp and four-wheel drive.
