A letter sent in to Farmers Weekly about bale-spikes has sparked some lively discussion on our website.

Focusing on the danger of tined loader attachments carried at low-level, the letter asks machinery drivers to guard spikes or run with the loader up in the air.

The responses have been wide-ranging, with some suggesting that the responsibility lies with manufacturers, the NFU and DEFRA, and others insisting that the law should be enforced more rigorously.
