ELS prompts expansion

Spaldings has extended its flail-topper range with the introduction of three wider models.

According to the firm, the market for grassland management kit is expanding as environmental schemes such as Entry Level Scheme grow in popularity.

Spaldings believes that as the link between subsidies and production is further widened, farmers will increasingly sign up to the environmental schemes and create significant demand for kit such as flail toppers.

The company claims to hold 17% share of the UK topper market – which totalled 1200 units last year – and aims to reach 30% this year.

The smallest unit from the firm this year is its 1.6m Compact machine for small tractors from 35hp upwards.

Spaldings also offers a 1.9m machine that can be 100% offset and works in an upright position or on banks of a maximum downhill angle of 70.

The two remaining products are a 2.2m and the original 2.8m machine carried over from last season.

Built in Italy the toppers feature a double skin construction for extra strength and wear and have 150mm diameter shafts for reliability.

Spaldings maintains that the units are built to its specification and are not simply re-stickered on arrival in the UK.

The units are available with immediate effect and in true Spaldings fashion, orders placed before 5pm will receive next day delivery.
