THE variable-speed drilling demonstration plots show an excellent level of consistency in plant establishment at speeds of between 5km/h and nearly 25km/h.

Following drilling into different seedbed types, there were no obvious differences in plant establishment numbers or crop vigour in this soil type.

But tillage decisions cannot be based on this alone – control of volunteers and disease pressures must also be considered.
