JCB is to introduce a packaging system for its 5L and 20L lubricant ranges that it claims is 84% more environmentally friendly.

The Bag in Box packaging, which bears an uncanny resemblance to a wine box, has a rigid outer cardboard layer made of 96% recycled material covered in a weather-proof film. The inner plastic bag can be squashed to about the size of a grapefruit for disposal, reducing waste from 720g for a traditional barrel to 115g.
