Kioti’s new Mechron is the latest arrival in the fast-expanding farm buggy sector. Brought in by Huntingdon’s Rustons Engineering, it has a 22hp, 3-cylinder diesel engine with dual range (CVT) transmission system and selectable 4wd.

A limited slip front diff is fitted, plus a lockable rear differential for slippery ground conditions. Top speed is 40kph (25mph), there’s 300mm (12in) of ground clearance and hydraulic disc brakes are standard all round.

The high-sided tipping cargo box has 500kg maximum capacity and hydraulic tip is an option. There’s also a rear hitch and towing capacity is 590kg.

The machine comes fitted with a four-post rollover protection bar and plastic canopy. For harsher weather conditions, a ROPS frame can be fitted with detachable front and rear screens and side doors to protect the driver from heavier rain and stronger winds.

Other optional extras include front winch and front hitch. The Mechron comes in Kioti orange (the red one pictured is a prototype) and there will be a camouflage option later in the year, plus an EC homologated version for road use. Cost is £9750
