great wall steed pick-up

Taking centre stage on the AtlasFram stand was the new Ford Ranger. Available at a discounted rate for AtlasFram’s 1,150 farmer members, the new Ranger arrived for its first public showing in the UK.

Kitted out in fiery orange livery, this double-cab Wildtrak version has a capacious 3.2 litre five-cylinder diesel engine.

With Ford’s 200hp block providing a monstrous 470Nm of torque, 23% more than the three-litre it has replaced, the Wildtrak is also said to offer a best-in-class 3.35t towing capacity. There’s also a 150hp, 2.2-litre engine version with 375Nm of torque.

Book prices on the Ford website are £15,515 + VAT for the smaller-engined model and £25,040 + for the big one. Expect to see high-tech items normally found in plush 4x4s, such as hill descent, trailer sway control, adaptive load control and the reassuring-sounding rollover mitigation.
