LAMMA 2012: Farm kit showcase biggest ever

Thousands of farmers are descending on the Newark and Nottinghamshire showground for LAMMA – Britain’s largest machinery show.

The LAMMA event, which this year boasts more than 750 exhibitors, opened its gates to visitors on Wednesday (18 January) and will run until Thursday (19 January).

In order to help ease traffic congestion in the area surrounding the show, the car parks opened from 6am and the gates opened from 7.30am.

But queues were already forming early this morning to gain entry to the showground.

As in previous years the event offers free parking and free entry.

Over the past 30 years the LAMMA show has grown beyond all recognition.

In its first year, it had just 50 exhibitors and 2,500 visitors. It is thought that between 38,000 and 40,000 people attended last year.

Farmers Weekly jounalists, photographers and videographers will be scouring the showground over the next couple of days to bring you a snaphot of all the newest products.

Meanwhile, our new subscription website Power Farming will be delving into the detail, picking the best products and giving you detailed reports, interviews with product specialists and more videos.

For a feel for what is on show at the event, view our short video below which was filmed on set-up day ( 17 Jan).
