A tyre designed specifically for road work has been launched by Michelin. The Roadbib is aimed at 200+hp tractor models that spend the majority of their time pounding the black stuff.
Radically different to the standard lugged tyre on a tractor, it is formed of 52 blocks with a central spine.
It keeps 40% of the tyre in contact with the road surface, which the company claims is 60% greater than a standard agricultural tyre.
A normal agricultural tyre might last 4,000 hours, if you’re lucky. The Roadbib will push the 5,000-hour mark before a replacement is needed, with operator comfort also improved, claims the company.
