New way to measure water acidity

ACIDIFYING WATER to improve hygiene for pigs has now been made easier with the development of a Water Hygiene Plan from feed specialists Frank Wright.

Incorporating the BASF buffered organic acid product Lupro-Mix NC, the plan is a rapid, effective and cheap method of testing water quality, says the company. An agar covered slide is dipped in a sample of water, incubated and the following day will show the level of bacterial contamination. It will also determine whether water treatment with Lupro-Mix NC is necessary, adds Frank Wright.

The Water Hygiene Plan is available free of charge from Frank Wright and dip slides cost about ÂŁ2 from BASF Animal Nutrition stockists (01335 341 102; fax 01335 341 171).
