Soil structure is likely be a big talking point and a number of soil-profile test pits will be dotted around the site to assess the underlying condition of the farm’s soils.

Visitors will also be able to see the effects of various cultivation techniques and debate whether they are actually achieving the desired results.

One of the areas has already been sown with a cover crop to demonstrate its effect on soil structure and several soil science experts will be on hand to explain their findings.

Trelleborg Tyres will also be showing how correct tyre selection, inflation and ballasting can affect compaction and soil health.

More than 3,500 people are expected to attend the free event and buses will be available to move visitors around throughout the day.
