Lamma 2015: Opico shows biogas-friendly precision drill

A precision drill with adjustable row spacing should appeal to contractors sowing maize for forage and biogas.

The eight-row Maga distributed by Opico under the Maschio Gaspardo banner (Stand G38) folds hydraulically to 3m for road transport and its MTR planting units can be spaced 45cm to 75cm apart.

Key features of the seeding unit design include large diameter – 420mm – double discs mounted on parallelogram linkage, which together are designed to provide the greater stability needed for higher working speeds and to ensure consistent sowing depth.

Drilling can be into a conventional seed-bed or min-tilled soils.

A Müller Precimat control box, double drive transmission, 36-litre seed hopper and a 900-litre stainless steel hopper big enough to receive fertiliser from for big bags are other features, with the added option of a 30-litre microgranule applicator.

The version on display at Lamma is priced from £41,046.
