Thousands of farmers have attended the opening day of the 2011 LAMMA show – Britain’s largest machinery event.
The carpark started filling just after 6am on Wednesday (19 January) as farmers flocked to the event at the Newark and Notts Showground.
In a bid to ease the traffic problems that have been a feature of previous years, organisers encouraged showgoers to arrive early – offering a discounted breakfast between 6.30am and 8.00am.
Plenty followed this advice and there were lengthy queues out of the doors of the main canteens before it was even light. However, some people arriving later in the morning were caught in tailbacks on the final approach to the showground. These were in part caused by roadworks on the A46.
