Northern Ireland firm Quad-X has launched a bale unroller that can also load its own bales. Called the Forager X10, it uses a pair of tines on a frame on the tractor rear linkage. These can be used to first spike the bale and load it into the unroller. Then they are slid into recesses in one end of the unroller allowing the tractor to lift it up.
The chain drive on the unroller is powered by a hydraulic motor so, by reversing the drive, round bales of silage can be fed out of either side. Rotation speed can be altered too.
It needs a tractor of more than 75hp and cost starts at £3500.
