RW 2010: Sperrin stainless steel separator goes mobile

The Irish-made single-phase Sperrin Separator from Shropshire company CE Projects provides farmers with a cost-effective way of separating solids from liquid slurry.

Designed for 150-cow herds, the stainless steel separators have automatic washdown and can be fitted with automatic controls as an option.

The company has also developed a trailer-mounted unit in partnership with SAC Crichton Royal and fellow Irish company Weld-Tech, which can be fitted with either a single Sperrin separator or one accompanied by an 11kW three-phase electric motor to power the slurry feed and agitation pump.

This can be coupled with a 5.5kW motor for pumping extra liquid away and a muck conveyor that’s driven by a 2kW motor. The company says this trailer-mounted version is ideal for contractors who want to offer a complete service.
