Merlo chose to launch its new ultra-compact P25.6 loader at last week’s Pig and Poultry Fair rather than Scotgrass, but it could still be of interest to anyone with cramped buildings.

Despite being able to lift 2500kg and having a maximum 6m height, it’s just 1.8m wide and 1.9m high. Powered by a 75hp Kubota engine and hydrostatic transmission, the cab is a full-sized unit.

Merlo also showed the first hybrid telehandler on the market in the shape of the P40.7 at the recent Bauma exhibition in Germany. This concept machine has a 75hp diesel engine and a 50kW motor/generator and can operate in diesel-only, diesel + electric and electric-only modes. No word on when production might start, though.
