Two ranges of shear-grabs from SlurryKat have entered the market, just in time for the winter feeding period.

It is the first time the Northern Ireland machinery manufacturer has ventured into producing shear-grabs.

The company says it was encouraged to do so by a number of farmers who were having problems with their own models, and say the grabs are designed to have “plenty of ram power to make the daily chore of feeding cattle as quick as possible, without wasting time waiting on a grab closing.”

Two ranges are available. The Farmcut has four models from 1.35m wide up to 1.95m and is designed for the smaller, less intensive livestock farm.

The Procut range consists of four models from 1.95m up to 2.55m and is aimed at large intensive livestock, dairy farms and biogas plants.

The larger grabs are available with the option of a third ram.

These are unique to SlurryKat with Nitox-coated rods to reduce corrosion and claim to give 25% more power than other grabs.

All the SlurryKat grabs hinge on 50mm pins and sleeved bushes which are 200mm long with the aim of reducing stress at a common weak point.

It also claims Hardox serrated blades stay sharp for 50% longer and that its shear-grabs have the widest opening design on the market.

Prices start at £1825.00 for the Farmcut 1350 model.
