MAKING THE point that the UK self-propelled sprayer market is dominated by highly complicated expensive machines, Glos-based Kellands has introduced a considerably cheaper alternative.

Priced at 49,000, the Uniport 2500 is built in Brazil by Jacto, which claims to be the world’s largest sprayer manufacturer.

According to Kellands, it answers the call from many customers for a simple machine that can be maintained and repaired on the farm.

Using a 130hp Perkins engine, a five-speed manual transmission transfers power to the mechanically driven rear axle – this is a two-wheel drive, front-wheel steer machine.

However, the company concedes to certain luxuries including coil-sprung suspension, air-conditioning and speed-related spray rate controls. An electronic automatic boom levelling system is also available.

Tank capacity is 2500 litres and boom width 21m – a 24m aluminium version will be available soon.
