Toyota boosts power and payloads for 2010

Toyota’s Hilux pick-up gets a 20% increase in power and more torque for 2010.

Maximum power goes from 118 to 142hp and maximum torque is up by 18Nm to 343Nm at 2000rpm. The changes have also cut the Hilux’s 0-62mph acceleration time by 2.5 seconds to 12.5 seconds.

The extra power comes from fitting a new high-output turbocharger and new fuel injectors.

Increases in the Hilux’s gross vehicle weight have also brought improvements in payload performance. Doublecab models can carry 35kg more on the HL2 Double Cab and 25kg more on the HL3 Double Cab.

The 3.0 D-4D engine now available just in the Invincible double cab. Leather upholstery and satellite navigation with Bluetooth are now options on the Invincible. Sat nav with Bluetooth is offered as an option on the HL3 Double Cab.

Prices (on the road but minus VAT) range from £15,145 for the HL2 single cab 2.5 D-4D to £20,545 for the Invincible double cab 3.0 D-4D auto.
