We may only be a few weeks into the 2013 tractor sales year, but things are looking pretty steady. A total of 738 tractors were sold in the UK in January 2013, just one less than the same month in 2012.

Meanwhile, figures released from the German equivalent of the Agricultural Engineers Association show that 36,264 tractors over 50hp were sold in Germany.

That’s some 300 more than the 35,975 sold in 2011 and is also two and a half times the size of the UK market.

The top 10 sellers in Germany in 2012 were Deere with 7,594 tractors sold, Fendt with 5,977, Deutz-Fahr with 3,945, Case IH with 3,679, Claas with 2,476, New Holland with 2,426, MF with 1,825, Kubota with 1,356, Iseki with 1,030 and Same-Lamborghini with 832.

In market share terms, the biggest upward mover was Case IH, with a 2.1% increase in share and the biggest downward movers were Claas and Kubota, which both saw their market shares drop by 1.4%.
