VIDEO: Claas launches compact loader range

Claas has added a new range of compact telescopic loaders to its Scorpion line-up.

The three-model 6030 series aims to fill the gap between the Targo of old and the larger 7030 machine, and replaces the 6030 VP.

Although most farmers will opt for larger, 24in wheels, when shod with 20in tyres the 6030 CP measures a modest 2.26m wide and stands 2.20m high. As the name suggests, it’s got a lift capacity of 3t and a reach of 6m.

There’s a choice of hp and transmissions available. The squat 6030 CP is powered by a 78hp transversally-mounted 3.6-litre Deutz engine and comes with hydrostatic 30kph transmission. Optional are two speed ranges, selectable on a rocker switch on the joystick and the 84 litres/min hydraulic pump is standard-fit.

The 6030 CP on larger, 24in wheels comes with 100hp and the same 30kph box, but it’s available with a larger 120 litre/minute pump. Higher-spec models also come with air-con and pick-up as standard.

The flagship 6030 CP Varipower comes with 40kph stepless hydrostatic transmission. Varipower offers more torque and better traction at lower revs, says Claas, thanks to a wide-angle 45° swash plate pump.

Permanent 4wd and a limited slip-diff front axle accompany the usual crab, 2ws and 4ws steering options and all models have a single multifunction joystick which controls all boom controls as well as forward and reverse, as in the 6030’s larger stablemates.

To reduce dust contamination, air intake is mounted on the top of engine cover and for machines destined for particularly hostile environments, there’s a reversible fan option, too.
