Why cultivate the whole field surface for maize when only soil in the immediate vicinity of each seeded strip needs to be worked?

Horsch will present a cost-cutting answer at Agritechnica in Hanover next week with a new cultivator/fertiliser drill.

Covering 8, 9 or 11 rows at a time, The Focus CS employs TerraGrip grubber tines with chisel coulters running only in the row spacings.

The coulters, which cultivate down to 35cm, feed fertiliser into the cultivated tilth and are followed by pairs of discs which ridge up the soil ready for the maize drill.
