Young Farmers prepare for 75th anniversary tractor challenge

Two Young Farmers are preparing to travel around Britain by tractor to promote the organisation’s 75th anniversary year.

Dan Halliday and Bryce Mackellar, both National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs vice-chairmen of council, will set off on their New Holland T7040 Tractor on 27 June.

They are planning to travel to the most Eastern, Northern, Western (Wales) and Southern points of England and Wales, after departing from the New Holland Tractor Plant in Basildon, Essex.

Their journey will finish at Stoneleigh, Warks in time for the Royal Show. Details of the attempt will be publicised at Cereals 2007 which starts on Wednesday (13 June).

The tractor will be run on B100 biofuel, which has been donated by Petrochem Carless Limited.

The aim is to up the profile of YFC and raise money for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.
