100 sheep rescued from snowdrifts

MORE than 100 lambs and ewes have been rescued after being buried in freak snowdrifts in the Mendip Hills, reports the Daily Mail.
A 50-strong team of police, firefighters, farmers and local residents helped rescue the sheep belonging to Somerset farmer Dennis Clothier.
The sheep, part of a 1500-strong flock, were grazing on hills 1000ft (300m) above sea level when blizzards struck on Monday (3 April), the Mail reports.
“Without the fire brigades help and that of all the other volunteers, I reckon I would have lost 40 or 50 sheep,” Mr Clothier told the paper.
