David Jarron said the bullock would be slaughtered within 7-10 days and then matured for up to three weeks.

The beef will be available from his three shops for eating on New Years Eve “to reward the loyalty of our customers”, he added.

Danny Boy was exhibited at Smithfield by Scott Watson and John David Work. Bred by D Dalgety, the animal weighed 510kg, giving a daily liveweight gain of 1.25kg.
