1450gns peak at Chelson dispersal

A TURBO Bell daughter that calved in February with her second and was giving 43kg a day realised the top price of 1450gns when Gordon Powell dispersed his Chelson herd.

The offering of 300 Holstein Friesians at Salcombe Regis, Devon, drew visitors from as far away as the west Midlands, levelling bidding for 129 cows at £909.

Paying the top price was A Pomeroy, Holsworthy, who also gave 1280gns for the first lot in the ring, a Sunny Boy daughter in her second lactation and giving 39.4kg a day. Mr Pomeroy took the five highest-priced cattle.

A four-month-old heifer calf by Gibbon and out of the top priced cow made 430gns to Messrs Selway, Sturminster Newton.

Averages: 35 in-calf heifers £615; six served heifers £446; 47 bulling/yearling heifers £440 and 74 heifer calves £290. (Stags).
