£100m of Yorks land to be sold

ONE of the biggest farms in England, the 11,000-acre Warter Priory estate in Yorkshire, is to be put on the market in the spring.

Ring-fenced and farmed mainly in-hand, the value of 8000 arable acres alone, lying on good Wold land, could be over £25m and the entire estate perhaps £10m more.

The proposed sale will allow Lord Normanby to concentrate his agricultural interest in the familys main estate near Whitby.

With North Yorks County Council also starting to sell its farms – valued at £60m – it takes the total value of land on offer in the county to around £100m.

&#8226 Warter selling agent Savills has been re-branded FPDSavills following its alliance with Asia Pacific group First Pacific Davies.

Interim results show Savills pre-tax profit up 35% to £4.1m during the six months ended Oct 31, 1997. Group turnover was up 36% at £30.1m. &#42
