£3000 on offer in the Nitram Award

IF you own or manage a progressive arable farm and can demonstrate considered and responsible fertiliser use within your crop management, you can now stake your claim to £3000 in cash and 10 tonnes of Nitram.

That is the main prize in this years Nitram Award for Best Fertiliser Practice, run by Terra Nitrogen and farmers weekly in association with Dalgety Arable and the National Farmers Union.

All you need do in the first instance is complete and return the preliminary entry form below in order to register your interest in the award. If you answer all the questions correctly, you will automatically receive a second stage farm questionnaire and a Terra baseball cap.

Correctly completing the farm questionnaire will set you on your way to potentially being one of five regional winners, and possibly the overall winner, of the 2000 Nitram Award.

More than anything, the judges will be looking for evidence of care and sound judgement in the use of fertiliser. Knowing what the crop requires, and being sure that this is applied with accuracy, and at the right time, is all important. Cost effective use of fertiliser inputs, within a profitable farming business, will also be a key factor. &#42
