£50,000 award on offer from HGCA

ENTERPRISING companies could re-ceive up to £50,000 through the Home-Grown Cereals Authoritys 2002 Enterprise Awards.

Established in 1995, these awards provide funding for exciting new ideas that will increase consumption of wheat, barley, oats or rye.

There is a total of £200,000 up for grabs, with individual awards ranging from £5000 to £50,000.

Last years projects are expected to increase cereal usage by 94,000t over three years, says the HGCA. Initiatives ranged from an investigation into pig diets to a cereal and herbal heat pack treating aches and pains.

Awards co-ordinator Rebecca Geraghty says: "We have had a lot of interest from small companies already this year, which is heartening. But we would like to see more projects from the meat and industrial sectors."

Applications close on Dec 31. For more information call 020-7520 3971. &#42
