600,000 more homes in the countryside

ANOTHER 600,000 homes will have to be built on the countryside by 2016, according to estimates from the Royal Town Planning Institute.

The institute says most of the extra homes will have to be built on greenfield sites in the already overcrowded south-east.

Its study was prepared for the governments Urban Task Force, which is examining the question of where homes will be built.
