6200gns top bid at Le Blanc reduction
FOUNDED four years ago by John Morgan, the Le Blanc Charolais herd staged a major reduction sale at Leek, Staffs, last weekend where prices reached 6200gns.
The bid came from Wesley Estates, Markfield, Leics, for the four-year-old cow Brampton Hiccup sold suckling her eight-month-old heifer calf by Escott Diplomat. Hiccup, by Bowerhouses Topper, is out of one of the breeds most famous female lines. Her grand-dam is Parishs Josephine – dam of leading sires Parsonage Nebulus and Brampton Tenpin.
Wesley Estates claimed four lots with calves at foot for a total of £17,340. The 1992-bred cow Glassel Husinish, by Bergholt Unknown, made 5000gns to C M Stenton, Barnsley who also paid 4200gns for the Nibheath Unique daughter Brampton Cathy.
This nine-year-old is out of Parishs Josephine and was sold with an April-born bull calf at foot by Diplomat.
Topping the heifers at 4000gns was Le Blanc Jig, a daughter of Blelack Equity with two lines to Coat breeding through Maerdy sires. She was AId in April to Diplomat and heads for Kincardineshire with Neil Barclay.
Rigel Pedigree Livestock, Yarm-on-Tees, Cleveland, is establishing a Charolais herd and invested £6195 in three cows with calves at foot from guest consignors Denis and Ina Lomas Glebedale herd dispersal.
AVERAGES: Le Blanc – 16 cows with calves at foot £3209; 10 cows £2184; seven in-calf heifers £2580; and eight maiden heifers £1811. Glebdale – four cows with calves £2073; three cows £1592; four in-calf heifers £931; and one bull calf £1050. (United Auctions)
