A feast of fun in Hereford
NORTH Hereford FWC celebrated its 20th anniversary at Pembridge village hall and members of the South Hereford group joined the party. We all enjoyed a delicious lunch with roast beef and ham salad as the main course. Gwen Phillips had made and decorated an extremely tasty cake to mark the occasion.
After lunch we were treated to a cookery demonstration by Jill Aynsley. Jill showed us how to make a basic cold soufflé – using gelatine of course! While we were waiting for the coffee soufflé to set she prepared a savory dish using pork fillets, turkey breasts, ham, anchovy fillets, garlic and parsley – a suitable party dish… yummy!
Jill used to run a catering business and throughout her demonstration told us amusing tales of transporting food around the town and countryside ending with a lovely story of how she resurrected a strawberry gateaux splattered on to the inside of her windscreen after an emergency stop!
Eleanor Wellings, whose family farms 243ha (600 acres) at Dilwyn, is the contact leader for this thriving group but she says that she will be retiring in the year 2000 after 20 years service.
