A mechanised history since age of the horse

SPECIALIST historian Stuart Gibbard looks at 100 years of mechanised farming in his latest book* which takes the reader on a nostalgic journey from the days when horses reigned supreme, through steam power to the present age of high spec tractors.

Change on the Land gives an insight into a transformation which has taken place in just three working generations, much of it still within living memory.

Enthusiasts will appreciate the rarity of the photographs, many of which have not been published before. The detailed captions provide a brief history of the machines and changing farming methods as well as background information.
