Adental nurse changes course

MATURE student Lisa Messenger certainly has no regrets about swapping her job as a dental nurse for a career in agriculture.

Lisa, who was inspired to make the bold move after working on farms during a year travelling around Australia, has just finished a National Certificate in Agriculture at The Nottingham Trent University. She netted a distinction and the coveted Top Student of The Year award.

"Giving up my job was a real gamble and going back into education after such a long time was quite intimidating," says 27-year-old Lisa, who was one of just three females on the course.

"All the students were much younger than me – but Ive always been an outdoor person and I really wanted to do something I enjoyed."

Lisa now plans to progress onto the National Diploma in Agriculture at Nottingham Trent.
