Agco shows off new addition to combine range

Last weeks Agritechnica event in Hanover, Germany proved

to be a good hunting ground for those seeking out those

new machinery developments. Andy Collings,

David Cousins and Stephen Howe provide this second

report from Europes largest indoor machinery show

LATEST addition to Agcos combine range is the 7242. Aimed at small to medium-sized farms, chiefly those in the 200-250ha (500-600 acre) range, it is the smallest of the 7200 series models made at Agcos Dronningborg plant.

While some of the components are also used on the Deutz-Fahr Ectron (and indeed Fendt 5180), both made in the same factory, engine, cab, headers and powertrain are different.

Key features are a six-cylinder, 6.6 litre 180 DIN hp Valmet engine, and a range of MF Freeflow and Powerflow tables from 3.7m to 4.95m (from 12ft to 16ft).

This is a five straw-walker machine, with 5.25sq m of walker area and 3.85sq m of sieve area. Fully self-levelling sieves and grain pan are available for use on sloping ground.

Grain tank size is 5200 litres and an integrated chopper is available as an option. This can be changed from chopping to swath mode by moving a lever on the swath hood. Price is about DM200,000. &#42
