Agency to spearhead rural revival

THE Countryside Agency will spearhead efforts next spring to relaunch the countryside and revitalise rural businesses after foot-and-mouth disease.
Ewen Cameron, agency chairman, told MPs on Wednesday (21 November) that officials would work in partnership with local authorities to promote rural areas.
The government had come up with a series of aid packages during the F&M crisis and some of this money was still available, he added.
If we can relaunch and rebrand the countryside in the spring then I hope we wont need more funds, Mr Camerons told the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee.
