Agribusiness pulls down Novartis

A TEN PER CENT fall in its agribusiness arm dragged down group turnover at Novartis, the Swiss life sciences group.

It reports being hit by low commodity prices, poor weather and European opposition to genetically modified crops.

The company reported first-half group sales up only 1% to Sfr16.3 billion.
