Aid for Air Ambulance

ON the morning the executive jet overshot the runway at Northolt, I decided to escape from London and try to avoid any traffic jams.

It didnt really work, of course, but driving through north London certainly made me appreciate the joys of the country.

My final destination was Eleanor Wellings home at Dilwyn, just south of Leominster in Herefordshire. She and her husband Alan had thrown their doors open to over 50 FWC members for a bring and buy sale and supper in aid of the Air Ambulance and the Meningitis Trust. Assisted by their friends and daughter-in-law Anna, they raised a grand total of £350 for these two worthwhile charities. As usual the FWC members had a jolly good evening.

One of the comments made to me about the club was how enjoyable the veterans day had been and where else could you go and meet such friends from all over the UK?
