…and boost for Scots
THE 150 dairy farmers who supply the Aberdeen Milk Company received a welcome boost to their milk prices last week.
At the companys first annual meeting, the board announced a bonus for the November-March trading period, bringing average payment for the five months to 24p/litre.
But, following the closed meeting, the companys general manager, Terence Hutton, refused to say what the bonus was worth. "That is between us and our members. But our producers are very happy with the bonus, and with the milk price we pay them," he said.
At the meeting a new chairman and vice-chairman were appointed. Taking over from Ian Marr as chairman is William Ferguson, who farms at Rothiebrisbane, near Fyvie, Grampian. Alan Taylor, Ordens farm, Boghead of Ord, Banff, was elected as his deputy.
