Anti-rollover – to a T

A NEW ZEALAND designed anti-roll bar that fits most quad bikes is being made and marketed under licence by a Welsh engineer.

Llew Thomas, Llygad-yr-Haul, White Mill, Carmarthen, says the T-shaped Quadrop high tensile steel bar does not restrict driver access, and allows an ATV to pass through a 1.8m (6ft) high door. New Zealand experience indicates that the T piece digs into the ground as the bike overturns, reducing the chance of crush injuries.

"We are at the stage tractor manufacturers were when safety frames were first fitted," explains Mr Thomas. "Now deaths from tractors overturning are rare and users have accepted the need and additional cost. ATV users deserve the same level of protection."

The bolts and brackets supplied vary according to vehicle, and the bar can be fitted in minutes by a dealer. Prices start from £150. &#42
